The state brainstorming session --- Chintan Shibir --- began at Kevadia in the Narmada district on Friday with the RSS song "Manush Tu Badaa Mahan Hai".
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, his cabinet ministers, and 230-odd state government officials reached the venue in nine Volvo buses operated by the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC). The brainstorming sessions started with the RSS song and are being held after a gap of five years.
Inaugurating the 10th edition of the Shibir, the CM asked everyone to hold discussions "with an open mind so that welfare schemes could be implemented effectively for the citizens", stated an official release. The concept of organising Chintan Shibirs (brainstorming sessions) for government employees was first started by Narendra Modi in 2003. He was the chief minister of the state at the time.
Chief Secretary Raj Kumar pointed out the decisions taken in previous editions of Chintan Shibir have helped in speeding up governance-related processes.
He said issues related to achieving the "net-zero-carbon" goal and the targets set in the state budget also needed to be discussed during the sessions.
Finance Minister Kanu Desai also addressed the first day of the session, which began in the evening.
